Dosing and filling

From container sorting up to the dosing station and filling technology

Regardless of the system station: igus offers a modular construction kit consisting of linear and rotary bearing technology that meets all requirements:

For example, linear bearings in conveyor technology enable precise positioning when feeding containers.
Lubrication-free plain and spherical bearings are used, for example, in the linear stroke for separating containers, in the bearings of lead screws, in the flap opening mechanism of multi-head weighers or in the dosing unit.
Lead screw modules with high static load capacity perform their service in combination with linear bearings and guide carriages when adjusting the filling arm.
And energy chains for cable guidance are used when the safe height adjustment of filling stations must be ensured.

About the individual stations and used materials


Dosing systems

Dosing stations constitute a single module within an overall system that can be individually assembled as in a modular system. They are therefore usually considered together with other stations from container sorting to filling and lid sorting.

As an example the miromatic mixing and filling plant from Michael Rothdach GmbH clearly shows not only the dosing station but also the upstream and downstream sections. Above all, these are container sorting, filling station and lid sorting. Different igus product solutions are installed here.

Dosing systems Machines from miromatic fill containers with foodstuffs such as yoghurt fully automatically. The requirements regarding the hygiene and availability of the machines in such cases are high.

iglidur bearing bushings are used in the container sorting. Specifically, plain bearings made of the material iglidur J enable the precise guidance in the linear stroke.

The height adjustment of the filling station is implemented in the vertical linear stroke with iglidur plain bearings (iglidur J). One of our plastic energy chains ensures safe cable guidance.

3. Lid sorting

The lid sorting is implemented by drylin R linear guides. These pillow blocks consist of two parts and simplify the installation of the systems.

Filling systems

At the centre of the filling station is the filling arm, which precisely fills containers such as pails, canisters or hobbocks with different contents and in a wide variety of sectors.
Filling systems or filling stations often constitute modular individual sections of a larger packaging line. Other process steps such as container feed are directly upstream of it.

Used products and application examples

Since a wide variety of tasks are combined in the filling system, from container feed to dosing and filling, a diverse range of machine components such as bearing systems, lead screws or even energy chains are used here.

Filling systems In the bottling plants of the Fricke Abfülltechnik GmbH & Co. KG, a lead screw module from our drylin range ensures the easy positioning of the 80-kg heavy filling head above the package.

Concealed guide rails from the drylin W range provide smooth movements in the conveyor system that feeds the containers to the filling station.

Lubrication-free and low-wear drylin SLW lead screw modules allow safe and easy adjustment of the filling arm. They consist of drylin W profile rails and drylin W pillow blocks.
