Record submissions for the 12th competition for plastic-bearing applications
In more than 20 years of the manus award, we have never received this many applications. Over 600 exciting applications from all over the world were submitted. We are thrilled by this large number and would like to thank all participants.
In a jury meeting that lasted several hours, the experts from specialist press, industry and business deliberated and selected the winners. In addition to the gold, silver and bronze manus award, the green manus award, which recognises a particularly sustainable project, was also presented this year.
Winner of the manus award 2025
All winners can look forward to prize money, a manus trophy and a marketing package worth €10,000. The in-house igus agency will produce a user report in an industry medium (DACH and international) and professional video material of the application.

What is the manus award about?
Have you rethought your approach to plain bearings? Have you replaced lubricated metal bearings with lubrication-free plastic bearings, linear plain bearings or spherical bearings? Excellent! This sustainability transformation is your ticket to the manus award.
This globally unique competition has been awarding prizes for creative applications using polymer plain bearings since 2003. We offer you a platform for your application and worldwide attention. We also award prize money of up to €5,000.
What are we looking for?
We talk to engineers every day and often hear that the pressure is constantly increasing. It's not just about cost efficiency, but also about continuously improving the carbon footprint of products, for example by dispensing with lubricants. In a recent study with RWTH Aachen University, we were able to demonstrate for the first time how plastic plain bearings tackle both challenges successfully.
In the context of the manus award, we are therefore particularly interested in finding out what effect these bearings have had in your company.

Procedure of the competition
The deadline for submitting entries for the manus award 2025 was 24th January 2025.
Jury meeting
At the jury meeting, experts from specialist press, industry and business will vote on the manus winners. The selection is based on five categories: idea, function of the plain bearing, savings, impact, differentiation.
Award ceremony
The presentation of the gold and silver manus awards will take place on 15th April 2025 at igus in Cologne. The bronze and green awards will be presented in June.
