Produce, fill, label: Lubrication-free bearings in a PET filling plant

Compact filling system "InnoPET TriBlock" from KHS works with our sliding, linear, ball bearings and linear tables
The filling line can be completely supplied as a single compact system. KHS makes this possible with the InnoPET TriBlock. This is convenient and saves space on the customer's premises. From the production of PET bottles to filling and labelling, everything has been thought of. However, as a lot of moving parts are also used in all process steps, KHS relies on our lubrication-free plain, linear and ball bearings as well as spindle linear tables at many points in the system - in continuous operation and at temperatures of 50 °C throughout.

Problem

Producing, labelling and filling PET bottles... with just one machine. The InnoPET TriBlock from KHS makes this possible and thus offers customers two specific advantages: it is complete and does not have to be integrated into existing lines and is also very compact.
It comes as no surprise that there is a lot of movement on such machines. Plain, linear and ball bearings as well as linear axes and rollers must be used in the gripper unit of the bottles, in the labelling system for the deflection or for the format adjustment of an entire process block.
The choice of these products is crucial, as they can have a significant influence on the machine availability and service life of the system later on at the customer. In the sensitive filling process, the focus is on keeping the moving components free of lubricating greases. All products must be wear-resistant and achieve a long service life. And all this during continuous operation and at temperatures of approx. 50 °C.

Solution

The InnoPET TriBlock works with a whole range of our "motion plastic" from different product programmes.
For example, for the bottle holders, which must be mounted safely and, above all, lubrication-free. Various iglidur ® J plain bearings for guiding the springs are accompanied here by drylin® R sliding foils (JUMO-01-20) for the stroke movement for clamping the bottles.
Plastic rollers specially manufactured for this purpose also guide the linear stroke safely.
During the labelling process, the carbon tubes, which feed up to 82,000 labels per hour with the help of pressed-in xiros ball bearings, are immediately noticeable.
The built-in linear adjustment of the entire labelling block is also particularly exciting. The 600 kg unit is guided safely and without maintenance or lubrication by a specially designed drylin® SLW-1660 spindle-linear system and two WSQ-16 drylin® guides at the rear.
