Plain bearings made from iglidur A200 are suitable for application in direct contact with food. Hence they are the ideal solution for bearing requirements in machines for the food industry, medical equipment manufacturing, for small equipment for households, etc. As the incorporation of solid lubricants is dispensed with in favour of food compatibility, the thermoplastic composition of iglidur A200 is especially adjusted for abrasion resistance. In addition the iglidur A200 is characterised by its capacity to embed dirt and by its quiet operating behaviour. The good wear properties, dirt resistance and the possibility for dry operation allow to replace elaborately sealed, lubricated bearings for little costs.

The maximum permissible short-term temperature is +170°C. The compressive strength of iglidur A200 plain bearings decreases with increasing temperatures. The temperatures prevailing in the bearing system also have an influence on bearing wear. Additional protection is required at temperatures higher than +50°C.

iglidur A200 has been developed for low surface speeds. In dry operation, a maximum of 0.8m/s (rotating) or 2m/s (linear) is permitted for continuous use. These specified values indicate the limits at which frictional heat causes an increase up to the permanently permissible temperature. In practice, these limit values cannot always be achieved due to interactions.

| Short-term | 1.5 | 1.1 | 3.0 |

Diagram 01: Permitted pv values for iglidur A200 plain bearings with 1mm wall thickness in dry operation against a steel shaft, at +20°C, installed in a steel housing
X = surface speed [m/s]
Y = pressure [MPa]
The maximum recommended surface pressure is a mechanical material parameter. Conclusions about the tribology cannot be drawn from this. The compressive strength of iglidur A200 plain bearings decreases with increasing temperatures. Diagram 02 illustrates this relationship. Diagram 03 shows the elastic deformation of iglidur A200 under radial loads. Under the maximum recommended surface pressure of 18MPa, the deformation is less than 2%. Plastic deformation can be neglected up to this radial load. However, it also depends on the duration of the duty cycle of the load.
The coefficient of friction changes with increasing load, as does the wear resistance (diagrams 04 and 05).

| Coefficient of friction μ | 0.10 - 0.40 | 0.09 | 0.04 | 0.04 |
Diagrams 06 and 07 show test results with different shaft materials, which were carried out with plain bearings made from iglidur A200. For pivoting movements under a load p = 2MPa, the wear of iglidur A200 plain bearings is higher than for rotations under the same load. The shaft made of HR carbon steel is the positive exception here.

iglidur A200 plain bearings are standard bearings for shafts with h-tolerance (recommended at least s h9).
The bearings are designed for press-fit into a housing with H7-tolerance. After installation in a housing with nominal dimensions, the inner diameter of the bearing with D11 tolerance adjusts itself automatically. For certain dimensions, the tolerance deviates from this depending on the wall thickness (see product range).
Important tolerances according to ISO 3547-1 after the press-fit:
