About lifting work platform: Lifting work platforms are used wherever work has to be done at a height safely and efficiently. Extending a long way upwards, they allow precise working high-up in the air, are simultaneously stable, ensure personal safety and enable the necessary mobility and stability at different working heights.

The challenge

Energy supply guides in mobile cranes with an elevated work platform must be able to withstand rough ambient conditions. They must be guided reliably at temperatures of -20°C to +50°C and be able to cope with dirt as well as long unsupported lengths. Maintenance also plays an important role. It must be possible to carry out maintenance quickly.

It must also be possible to quickly replace the energy chain systems used. Replacing parts in entire systems within just a few minutes, however, is an enormous challenge where long unsupported lengths are in use.

Solution

In order to avoid re-harnessing, igus helped the customer with ready-to-install harnessed energy chains specially designed for unsupported lengths and rough ambient conditions. The complete service includes the supply of a module (diagram: energy chains of the E4.1 series), hydraulic hoses as well as control cables (diagram: of the type CF77) for direct installation.

All modules are thoroughly tested beforehand in the igus readychain factory. The ready-to-install energy chains systems can be replaced quickly when maintenance is carried out.
