Rotterdam cruise terminal relies on mobile shore power system from igus

Large white cruise ship is moored in the Port of Rotterdam next to modern skyscrapers and a riverbank. In the foreground on the quay wall is a green igus® mobile shore power outlet (iMSPO). Its boom is extended and cables are connected that supply power to the ship. Shore power supply in ports has become increasingly important in recent years, especially in Europe. The EU has clear climate targets and is calling for a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions from shipping so as to become climate-neutral by 2050.
As a result, EU ports that reach a specified traffic volume are obliged to provide shore power for ships starting in 2030.
