At the Volkswagen plant in Emden, a robolink® articulated arm robot is used in Passat B8 PA production. Two adhesive seams are applied by the bonding robot for bonding acoustic measures in the area of the rear battery console in order to avoid tedious manual work by employees and to increase the quality of the bonding process. and to increase the quality of the bonding process.
The problem
During the original gluing process, the rear battery consoles were manually removed from the containers by employees and fitted with two battery adhesive seams. The console was then fitted to the side of the boot area. This process resulted in an activity content of 120% in the workload diagram of each employee in automotive mass production. The consequence of this was that the employees could not keep to their work cycle completely. The higher workload in combination with time pressure led to an increased susceptibility to errors.
The solution:
Using the robolink W to automate the gluing procedure not only reduces employee workload, but also ensures precise, consistent battery console gluing with constant gluing quality. The entire manufacturing process is automated, from component removal to positioning on a gluing table to applying the two acoustic adhesive seams.
